From Culture To Table: The Thanksgiving Menu

The blessing of the harvest has historically been the legacy of Thanksgiving. Families mark their evening with a gathering from near and far, with overindulgence in mind. And at the center of it all is a special menu. Indeed, many tables will inherit the multi-cultural cuisine of those that serve it-we bring the food culture of the southern African American family.

Thanksgiving is a time for family gatherings and cultural connections.
What's On The FNBN Menu?

1. The traditional thanksgiving dinner is centered around the turkey. And it did not change for us this year. But instead of a full turkey, we opted for fried turkey wings---right out of the air fryer.

2. Some people will have dressing, others will select stuffing---- they are not the same.

However, we chose dressing, since we did not have a full turkey to stuff.

3. The sides were old-fashioned and southern styled. And we did not skimp on the calories.

  • sweet potatoes

  • macaroni and cheese

  • mustard greens

  • cranberry sauce

  • turkey gravy

  • sweet rolls

4. No southern thanksgiving is complete without the distinct desserts that only it can bring. This years menu topped off with pecan pie and peach cobbler.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
