Our initiative is dedicated to those lesser known scholars who have made immeasureable impact on the sciences of health, medicine, art, research and community. We have partnered with parks and recreation across the country to place a storytelling bench in parks representing their contributions.

Inaugral Bench Mark

It was a warm day on May 17, 2025 at 11AM EST that a small committee of women gathered to dedicate its inaugural bench honoring the legacy of MARJORIE TUCKER REED, a nurse who was one of the renowned nurses known as THE BLACK ANGELS, whose clinical practice contributed to the cure for tuberculosis at Seaview Hospital in Staten Island, New York.
