Nursing has traditionally been acknowledged as a profession through advanced education, licensing, and clinical specialties like Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics, and Maternal Health. However, the Department of Education's classification of a 'professional' degree does not encompass nursing. This classification has sparked widespread concern within the nursing field and the broader health sciences. This is a pivotal moment in the history of the discipline, and how we perceive, understand, and ultimately react to it will significantly affect future generations.
