Nursing Science: Why Research Is Vital To Closing Gaps in Health Disparities

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) has undoubtedly devastated our world and the communities around us. Social determinants of health play an enormous role in the disparities of the disease. Racial and ethnic minorities continue to bare the brunt of economic and social inequalities. With diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and heart disease being priority killers among minorities, they are also key co-morbidities of the coronavirus. But as research continues to promote and maintain preventative measures, it is imperative that the profession of nursing explore ways to diversify the role of the nurse scientist and the research we implore.
